About

Aloha!

We are David and Citlali. We founded Dérive Botanicals in the fall of 2017. Natives to North Lake Tahoe, NV, we have been fortunate enough to call both Portland, OR and Pacific Grove, CA home as well.

Our love for the unknown brought us here to the beautiful Hawaiian island of O'ahu at the beginning of 2017.

We are nomads at heart and have embraced a unique lifestyle that celebrates our love for "dérive", calling many places home. We believe that in order to continue on our path of personal growth we are transformed most by living in different places, and by embedding ourselves in the communities in which we choose to live. This allows us to cultivate a fresh perspective on ourselves, and the world. Having grown up in a small town, we crave a sense of community, and have found lasting friendships, unforgettable experiences, and endless opportunities for growth with every new place we call home.

Although not as frequently as we would like, we often visit our family in Lake Tahoe. Growing up in the Sierras has certainly set a high standard for where we choose to live. In 2012, we decided to move to Portland, OR. We loaded up our U-Haul and our two cats and drove the 500 miles to the heart of downtown Portland. For the first time as adult people we experienced the world unsheltered by the familiar.

We quickly realized that due to the transformative nature of the new landscapes and relationships we were becoming a part of, that we would move again. This process of "dérive", which we find difficult to describe, has become so contagious and a part of our identity, that it continues to guide our lives as we seek out new ways to see ourselves and the world around us.

In each place that we live, our day to day life is inspired by the unique opportunities of the area. We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to focus on creating this business of providing incredible natural healing skin health products. We are realizing our goal of working together and providing something good for the earth as well as a platform to share our unique perspective through our time that we dedicate to this website (and blog), as well as our time at the Waikiki Farmer's Market.

As our knowledge of different plants and their benefits grow, as well as the support of the community that surrounds us, so will our small business.

Thank you for visiting, please reach out to us with any questions or comments, we would love to hear from you! Also keep up with us as we blog about past and new experiences, as well as share our perspective on life and skin health.

Mahalo,

David and Citlali Hunt
